For The Referring Vet
Why Partner with a Mobile Veterinary Specialist
At The Pet Specialists Mobile, we make advanced veterinary care more accessible — for you, your patients, and their families. By bringing specialist expertise directly into your clinic, we enhance the level of care you can offer without the need for your clients to travel or disrupt their pet’s routine.
Benefits for Your Practice
Extend Your Services Without Expanding Your Premises
By partnering with a mobile specialist, you can offer advanced diagnostic, medical, and surgical services on-site without the cost and complexity of new equipment, facility upgrades, or additional staff. It’s an effortless way to broaden your service offering and meet more of your clients’ needs in-house.
Strengthen Client Trust and Loyalty
Clients appreciate the continuity of care that comes from seeing a specialist within the clinic they already know and trust. It reduces stress for both pets and owners and reinforces your role as the central point of care.
Collaborative Patient Management
We work with you, not instead of you. Our specialists provide expert opinions, tailored treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations, all while keeping you closely involved in every stage of the patient’s care. This collaborative approach ensures seamless case management and optimal outcomes.
Convenience for Your Clients and Patients
Eliminating the need for referral travel is not only more convenient but also less stressful — particularly for anxious pets, complex cases, or owners with limited mobility or transport options. Care delivered in a familiar environment often results in smoother procedures and better patient recovery.
Continuing Education and Knowledge Sharing
Our visits are an opportunity for your team to learn and grow. We’re passionate about sharing our expertise, answering questions, and supporting your clinical team with practical insights that strengthen patient care long after our visit ends.
Financial Benefits for Your Practice
Working with a mobile specialist can also support your clinic’s financial health. At The Pet Specialists Mobile, we charge only the specialist surgical fee, while all other associated costs — such as anaesthesia, consumables, hospitalisation, and follow-up care — are billed directly through your clinic. This means you retain revenue for the services and care you provide, making collaboration both clinically valuable and financially rewarding.
How It Works
If you would like to request a mobile surgery for one of your patients, please contact us directly via email (mobile@tps.vet) or phone on 0411 686 319 (Eugene), 0481 305 780 (Vicky) or 02 9452 2933 (The Pet Specialists main hospital client services).
Please email the patient signalment, history, radiographs and relevant bloodwork in order that we can provide you with an appropriate recommendation. We are available via phone or email to discuss the case with you. This service is offered at no cost to you or the client.
If your client would like to proceed with the surgery, a specialist consultation is recommended. Consultations can take place at your clinic, or at The Pet Specialists Referral Hospital in Terrey Hills. A specialist consultation fee will be charged in these cases. Pre-operative phone consultations with the owner are also available at no charge.
We will call you the day before the scheduled surgery to confirm the procedure and provide an estimated arrival time at your clinic. On the day of surgery, ensure that your client signs both your hospital consent form and the The Pet Specialists surgical consent form (link to form). We will call you within 1 hour of our estimated arrival to your clinic, so that you can prepare the animal for surgery (pre-medicate, anaesthetise, clip etc).
Your team will be responsible for providing general anaesthesia, along with administering perioperative and postoperative medications. We will perform the local nerve blocks and epidural anaesthesia.
We bring all the surgical equipment, implants, suture materials and a surgical nurse to assist with the surgery.
For general soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, we recommend Cephazolin (20/kg, IV) to be administered 30-60 minutes prior to the surgical incision, then every 2 hours intra-operatively. Ongoing IV Cephazolin at 20/mg/kg q 8 hours, or oral Cephalexin (20 mg/kg BID) can be administered for surgical prophylaxis in some instances.
Following the surgery, we will provide you with an update on our intraoperative findings and expected outcomes. We also contact the owner direct to discuss the surgery and after-care instructions.
We will provide you with a written, detailed surgical report, including aftercare and discharge instructions for the owner.
The pet will remain under your hospital’s care postoperatively. We are happy to guide and support you throughout the recovery process as needed, and to be contacted with questions or follow-up about a case.
An invoice will be sent to you directly by The Pet Specialists Mobile team.
